(TUCSON- AZ) Strada Company presents a reading of a new American play, Neverthelesss, for the benefit of the YWCA and Planned Parenthood Arizona, 7:30 PM Friday and Saturday, January 26th and 27th at the YWCA, 525 N Bonita Avenue in Tucson, AZ. Nevertheless tells the story of a group of disparate women responding to the election of Donald Trump in the first week of January 2017. Some progressive, some conservative, some indifferent, these women have met monthly for a book discussion group only to find now the feeling that one way or another their lives are changing and changed by this new reality.
The play features Denise Blum, Kate Cannon, Veronica Conran, Alanna Marie Gerardi, Jamie Hoggan, Callie Hutchison, Jasmine Roth, Rachel Santay, and Nicolette Shaffer-Fillippi under the direction of Nicole Scott. The play was written by Michael Fenlason.
“When we did Words Clouds after the January 8 shooting at Beowulf Alley Theatre, we saw that real people having real conversations about important issues was a more honest and powerful form of drama,“ says Nicole Scott, director, “These are real women talking about life and love, what the fear and what they aspire to. And what that all means with the election of Donald J. Trump.” Strada Company is proud to support these two organizations that fervently advocate for the rights and opportunities for women.
